Cambridge Sensoriis is pleased to announce a firmware update to our patented system for precision landing and tethering – Active Radar Cooperating (ARCTM) – which can be used on a static or moving platform/vehicle, including vessels at sea.
The free-of-charge updates available for download from September 2025, have been developed based on valuable professional feedback from Cambridge Sensoriis customers and improve the functionality and performance of ARCTM, making the experience with autonomous landing and tethering even better.
ARCTM firmware v1.1 includes:
- Improved Stability
Experience unmatched precision with 4x range accuracy improvements. Our radar system enhances tether tracking, maintaining stable positional control, and landing precision, even on dynamic or moving platforms. Our advanced radar technology automatically guides drones safely and reliably, ensuring secure recovery every time.

- PX4 Autopilot Support
In addition to Ardupilot, Cambridge Sensoriis now fully supports PX4 (v1.16) autopilot software and has engineered a PX4 development branch for users, which allows our radar technology to actively compensate for inherent PX4 GPS errors, enabling far greater positional stability and landing accuracy.

- Offset Autonomous Tethering and Landing for Standard or Angular Flight Trajectories
Advanced offset tethering and landing capability enables precise drone positioning even when operating at an angle or relative offset from the tether base. This ensures stable, reliable landings and tether management during tilted trajectory operation modes, maintaining control under varied conditions. This flexible landing technology adapts to real-world conditions for smooth, secure recovery every time.

Other feature enhancements include:
- MAVLink diagnostics uplift
- Enhance CLI support.
ARCTM
Sensoriis’ patented radar technology Active Radars Cooperating (ARCTM) provides precise landing and tethering capabilities using direct radar range measurements regardless of the conditions. Each ARCTM device includes a Primary radar on the UAV and ground-based Secondary radars. They are configured with a code, ensuring that secondary devices are only interrogated by an associated airborne primary device.
