Radar Solutions

Our patented, ultralight radars – ARCTM and RadarAwareTM – give our customers’ drones autonomous landing, positional tethering, safe landing zone validation, and interceptor capabilities. Designed and manufactured in the UK, our in-house engineering expertise ensures full control over quality, rapid innovation, and the ability to tailor solutions to meet mission-critical requirements.

Small, lightweight, and low-powered with no moving parts. They are highly sensitive and so provide a high spatial resolution over long range.

A strong ability to penetrate fog, smoke, and dust when compared with optical sensors such as infrared and laser sensors, and cameras, our radars are highly effective in most weather conditions.

Our radars deliver reliable localisation in GNSS-denied environments, when satellite signals can be blocked, obstructed by buildings, or unavailable due to security threats (e.g., military scenarios).

Ever-present and able to deliver pin-point localisation, with an accuracy to 1 centimetre resolution, and are highly resilient to malicious intrusion (spoofing) or jamming mechanisms.

Use Cases

Precision Landing

Accurate localisation and resilient landing capabilities are vital to Uncrewed Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) successfully completing their missions and ultimately securing Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) operational certification.

A resilient landing solution for precision landing on a static or moving pad or vehicle – including vessels at sea.

ARCTM operates in adverse weather and GNSS-denied environments.

Positional Tethering

“UAV loiter” is an operational mode where a UAV navigates to and maintains a fixed position and altitude above a designated target point. It is especially valuable for intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) missions, or search and rescue operations where speed and precision are crucial.

ARCTM enables radar-based tethering above both stationary and moving target positions.

Seeker

RadarAwareTM has the potential to play a vital role in counter-UAS operations as part of a drone intercept solution, detecting potential hostile targets in volatile frontline situations where parameters are continually changing.

Radars have been extensively used in missile seekers for these reasons but have been prohibitively expensive for use in attritable ‘interceptor’ deployments.

RadarAwareTM provides range, elevation, bearing, relative velocity and tracking to support Interceptor applications.

Safe Landing Zone

The landing and take-off phases for helicopters and drones are both challenging and risky, as determining a safe landing zone has historically relied on visual processes (human, camera sensors, LiDAR). These require clear visibility, calm weather, and line of sight.

Radar is far more versatile. The challenge to date has been designing them in a low SWaP form and at an acceptable price point for UAV deployment.

Safe Landing Zone detects obstacles to landing providing essential resilience to the landing operation.
